Ras is a Village in Borsad Taluka in Anand District of Gujarat State, India. It is located 32 KM towards South from District head quarters Anand,10 KM from Borsad, 117 KM from State capital Gandhinagar.
It is belief that Ras name was derived from the king of Patan Sidharaj Jaysinh who was noblemen of four Patavato named Rasaji.
After some time Brahmins of Nandod (Place) were taken at Ras by Rasaji. The Patalai (management) of Ras was given to Brahmin. Shrimani Vaniya was bought from Saurashtra for the security of Ras.
In vikram samvat 1552 , Sanga Patel who came from Khambholaj Village reside in Ras permanently. Inheritor of Sanga Patel named Tarajandas who got 18 parts (1800 vigha) of land and Vastabhai got 15 parts (1500 vigha) of land. Thus total land of Ras was 3300 Vigha. Today Ras is divided into two portions familiarly known as 15 vigha and 18 vigha.
Role of Ras during freedom struggle against British rules.
Ras remained in the fore front during the freedom struggle. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was to give a lecture in Ras on 3rd March 1930 as a initiator to the Dandi-March. But the police machinery was geared up on that day and he got arrest. This is first time in his life he got arrested for freedom fight. Sardar Patel and other leaders of the village started the public meeting under a big banyan tree, today this place is known as “Vallabhvad “ which is situated at the entrance of the village. Within few minutes of the meeting, the first class magistrate of Borsad himself came with the arrest warrant of Sardar. Sardar was brought to Borsad and sent to prison for three months. This incident catapulted Ras village to the national map overnight and Ras was inscribed in golden letters in the annuals of Indian Freedom Struggle.

When we enter in Ras, there is big entrance and famous temple of “ Ambama & Lord Shiva “ . At the middle of the Ras there is a universal “Parabadi” which is rarely seen in Gujarat State. One big tower and two Patel Vadi are situated at Ras. Patel Vadi is useful for marriage occasion and religious occasion. At the end of the village, there is an attractive big pond. There is RCC road around the village
Ras has got Education facility from nursery to Std. 12. In Ras high school about 1000 student are studying at present.

Profession
The profession of the people of Ras is agriculture. They cultivate different crops like Rice, Wheat, Tobacco, and Gram. More than 80% farmers depend on irrigation facility and rest of on tube well.
